Quality Engineer
As a Quality Engineer at Luthmore you will ensure our zero-emission heating products meet the highest standards domestically and abroad, while helping shape the future of net-zero home technology.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support the manufacture of our zero-emission replacement to the gas combi-boiler and support our future product portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring product quality throughout incoming inspection, production, and final test processes. The role will focus on monitoring and assessing components and assemblies, working closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to verify manufacturing and test equipment, analysing test data to drive process improvements, and managing inspection and test equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including PUWER requirements.
As a Quality Engineer you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of product performance, reliability, and safety across the business and Luthmore’s supply chain as we work to engineer an uncompromising net-zero home.
Key Responsibilities:
Incoming Goods Inspection
Monitor and assess incoming components and materials to ensure they meet specification and quality requirements.
Work with Quality Assurance Engineering and our suppliers to resolve non-conformances and support corrective actions.
Maintain records of inspections and supplier quality issues.
Continue to improve and develop our processes as the business grows.
Manufacturing Quality Control
Perform quality assessments during production to verify compliance with manufacturing standards and procedures.
Support the identification of defects, trends, and areas of concern, escalating and managing the resolution of issues as necessary.
Lead and support root cause investigations and corrective action activities on site and at suppliers.
Manufacturing and Test Equipment Verification
Verify and maintain manufacturing and test equipment to ensure continued accuracy and reliability.
Develop and implement equipment verification schedules and procedures.
Ensure calibration requirements are maintained and documented.
Test Data Analysis and Process Improvement
Working with the manufacturing manager, monitor production and test data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement on our production lines, at suppliers and at contract manufacturers.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving yields, and enhancing product reliability.
Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement process improvements.
Equipment Management
Manage the inventory, maintenance, and calibration status of inspection and test equipment.
Ensure equipment is suitable for its intended purpose and maintained in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Maintain equipment records and traceability documentation.
PUWER Compliance
Work with the manufacturing and test teams to ensure equipment complies with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
Coordinate inspections and risk assessments as required.
Maintain documentation demonstrating compliance with statutory requirements.
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
Support internal and external audits, both domestically and abroad.
Ensure quality activities are carried out in accordance with ISO 9001 and company procedures.
Training and Support
Provide guidance to production personnel on quality standards and inspection requirements.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness throughout the organisation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline, or suitable equivalent experience.
Experience in a quality control or quality engineering role, ideally within the electrical or electronics industry.
Experience with or knowledge of inspection techniques and quality control processes.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Understanding of calibration and verification of measurement and test equipment.
Strong hands-on, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management tools.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with PUWER requirements and equipment safety principles.
Experience working with battery-powered and high power electrical devices.
Knowledge of statistical process control and data analysis techniques.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with non-conformance management and root cause analysis tools.
Understanding of electrical testing and measurement systems.
